Deconstructing Official Rationales for the Texas State Raid on the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints

This is a brilliant lecture by Stuart A. Wright, Professor of Sociology at Lamar University, titled Deconstructing Official Rationales for the Texas State Raid on the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints. In this lecture, Wright analyzes the influences behind the raid on the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints community in Texas in 2008 where over 400 children were forcibly removed from the property on a single allegation of child abuse. Although the children were later returned to the community after no evidence of abuse was found, no media attention was ever given to the outcome of the raid. Wright gives a very insightful viewpoint from the perspective of a scholar who has studied phenomena like these for over 20 years, and has observed and documented the behaviors of the so-called "cult experts" that provoke these attacks such as Rick Ross who holds a criminal record.
