Honorary Planetary Citizen of the Month

Dr. James Orbinski, international council present, and the international medical relief organization, Doctors Without Borders, are honored for the extraordinary acts of selfless service rendered to the families of our world who have been victims of armed conflicts, epidemics, and natural and man-made disasters. The organization has a unique mandate to speak out against violations of humanitarian law that its medical teams witness in the course of providing aid. Since its founding in 1971, Doctors Without Borders has worked to meet the medical needs of people too often forgotten by the world. At times the international relief workers, many who are volunteers, have been willing to engage in cross-border operations to meet the needs of patients and to aid local medical workers who have been cut off from assistance in their own countries. Dr. James Orbrinski and his host of volunteer workers have spoken out against genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity while pursuing their mandate to provide medical assistance to populations in danger. To Dr. James Orbrinski and all the members of Doctors Without Borders we congratulate you not only in becoming a Nobel Peace Prize recipient, but for your courageous loyalty towards ensuring that the right to humanitarian assistance remains a reality upon our world.
